Best extra,

My name is Charlotte Goesaert. I am a Belgian choreographer and I am currently touring with my new show BAKENEKO. For this show, we are looking for three extras at each playing venue in each new city to help with my performance.

The show is about the well-being of families and children, with the underlying theme of the sensitive but important subject of child abuse and neglect.

I myself am on stage solo as a dancer. I too am a survivor of child abuse myself, the piece is not so much about setting out a survivor's story, but about how we as a community, parent, fellow human beings and society can be there and think along on this important topic.

That is why I am appealing to you. I am looking for three extras to sit next to me on stage at a craft table. We will do paper-mâché together during the performance. I will ask you some questions here and there. These questions are innocent questions, which refer indirectly to the subject, I will ask questions about, for example, a happy moment you had as a child, or how you relax when you have a lot of stress,...

Your presence symbolises the supportive community that surrounds a survivor.

Fear not, at the crafting table you will be a little hidden behind our crafting, so you will not be conspicuously visible. Nor do we expect any acting, you can just come as yourself and answer questions if you feel comfortable doing so. Also, sometimes you can just quietly watch and listen to the performance from the craft table.

We have already done this at several theatres in the show, and it is always a positive experience, where a beautiful connection is made.

We are looking for people of all ages (16+) and all backgrounds.

If this unique experience seems like something for you, contact us at delphine@dansbrabant.nl.
You will also get 2 free tickets to the performance, for friends or family who want to come and watch with you.

If you email us, you will get personal contact with me and we can go through everything together properly and answer any more possible questions.

I look forward to our meeting!

Sincerely,
Charlotte Goesaert
