From 2023, Anthony will join DansBrabant as a PLANmaker. He will spend the next few years working under the wings of DansBrabant on his research into the 'selfless body' - the idea that we humans have no fixed core, but that identity forms by mirroring what happens outside us.

The quiet is a quartet at the interface of dance, sound and lighting design. Four performers are on a stage at eye level. Audience all around. Under each body a microphone amplifying contact sound, individual transmitting microphones capture their breath and voice. The movements start from extreme muscle tension. Are the bodies suffering from fever or are their movements short, violent spasms? Are they dreaming? Do we see them being born or dying? Are they ecstatic or in pain? Do they make random sounds or do they create the same rhythm together? With The quiet, Anthony picks up where he left off with crowdkill. No longer the body falling in all directions, looking for hold, but four bodies moving from a great inner sensitivity. The quadrophonic sound design, with voice as a new element, comes from invisible speakers incorporated in the corners of the stage, sounds different from every angle.

Anthony van Gog (born Antwerp, 1996) graduated from the Performance programme at the Maastricht Drama Academy in 2019. His work moves at the interface of theatre and visual art. He makes the body, sound and space play a game over and over again. In addition to his artistic practice, Anthony is pursuing a master's degree in Philosophy at the University of Antwerp.
