From 2023, Anthony will join DansBrabant as a PLANmaker. He will spend the next few years working under the wings of DansBrabant on his research into the 'selfless body' - the idea that we humans have no fixed core, but that identity forms by mirroring what happens outside us.

In a Bass Concert Anthony concentrates on the interaction between intense bass sound, the space around it and the audience. In a sound arrangement of subwoofers, he works on a sound composition of low bass sounds. The interplay of small frequency shifts, standing waves and the materiality of the space creates a composition that is different in every room. How does the space resonate with the low bass frequencies? What sounds do these vibrations create in the specific space? Is it possible to grasp these architectural sounds and turn them into a composition? And how does the composition affect the body of the spectator, who, like the space, resonates with the bass sounds?

Anthony van Gog (born Antwerp, 1996) graduated from the Performance programme at the Maastricht Drama Academy in 2019. His work moves on the
interface of theatre and visual art. He makes the body, sound and space play a game over and over again. Besides his artistic practice, Anthony is pursuing a master's degree in philosophy at the University of Antwerp.
