Workshop Release The Beast by Tony Vezich

Alienated organises workshops and classes to boost the dance scene in Tilburg and the surrounding area. This year, we are offering monthly workshops with choreographers from the (local) dance world. We start the new season with a floorwork workshop by Tony Vezich!

Workshop Release The Beast:
Release the Beast is a contemporary floor technique developed by choreographer and teacher Tony Vezich. The technique is a response to a serious side effect of his intense and physical work routines. To protect his dancers from serious injuries, Tony began to develop special exercises that evolved into a complete technique: Release the Beast. There is a strong emphasis on floor work and a particular order of the body in relation to the starting point of the movement. Another determining factor is how to find a powerful centre and how to use this powerful centre to cover greater distances within the space, especially in relation to the floor and the lower part of the dance space.

About Tony Vezich
Tony studied contemporary dance at the New Zealand School of Dance and then worked for a decade and a half as a dancer and choreographer in Germany. While in Germany, Tony founded the Temper-Temper Dance Company, of which he was artistic director and choreographer. Tony currently has more than 40 choreographies to his credit. Tony invented and developed the dance technique "Release The Beast", which he has taught throughout Europe and Scandinavia. He is currently on artistic leave from his position as head professor of contemporary dance technique at the Iceland Academy of the Arts to pursue his independent artistic desires while secretly reforming Temper-Temper.
