Workshop day with Collective MAMM

Alienated organises workshops and classes to boost the dance scene in Tilburg and the surrounding area. This year, we offer monthly workshops with choreographers from the (local) dance world. In October, we will invite Collectief MAMM for a full day of partnering.

Workshop by Collective MAMM
Maxime and Mees founded Collectief MAMM, based in Amsterdam. Their work explores the boundaries of dance and acrobatics. In this workshop, they focus on different lifts, where they do not use strength but share momentum to move another body, making no distinction between traditional partnering and gender roles. They build confidence by explaining how to share each other's weight and build up to bigger lifts during the workshop. To put this into practice, they learn some MAMM repertoire, sharing the movement language they have developed together.

About Collective MAMM
Maxime Abbenhues and Mees Meeuwsen met while studying Urban Contemporary Dance at the Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK), where they both graduated in 2020. There, they found each other in their love for partnering and acrobatics. A year and many bruises later, Collective MAMM was born. In their work, they explore partnering techniques based not on strength, but on sharing momentum to move another body, thus striving to make no distinction between traditional partnering roles.

MAMM is currently supported by the New Makers Scheme (FPK) 2024-2026. Their work has been shown at several festivals and theatres in the Netherlands and internationally in Italy, France and the UK.
