Virtual Residency @ the Dutch Dance Days
SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE
During Nederlandse Dansdagen, you will experience dance live on stages in Maastricht and online. The Nederlandse Dansdagen online programme will include three new Virtual Residencies, including that of SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE.
The live event will take place on 4 October at Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. Afterwards, the online version can be viewed via the Nederlandse Dansdagen website.
The following creators have been selected for this edition:
Yoko Haveman (Dansateliers)
James Parnell (Korzo)
SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE (Dansbrabant)
The live event will feature all three makers and their works for the Virtual Residencies. Take a look at their working process and engage with the makers.
About the Virtual Residencies
For the Virtual Residencies, makers are selected who work on projects in which digital media play a central role. Think of the use of film, motion capture or digital avatars in combination with dance. During the Dutch Dance Days, we will give a digital insight into their working process. No finished work, but projects in development; researching, experimenting and in full swing.
Nederlandse Dansdagen works with three organisations that collectively span a large part of talent development in dance, namely Dansateliers, Korzo and Dansbrabant.
SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE during the Virtual Residencies
Within this pilot for a new work, SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE explores a cinematic fiction, a virtual world where bodies occupy and transcend both their own and each other's space. By overlapping and stacking images, the figures meet without the restriction of time and space. This creates a new, redefined form of closeness, a radical intimacy, beyond the physical boundaries of the body.
About SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE
SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE is a multidisciplinary performance collective founded and driven by Celine Werkhoven and Anna Zurkirchen. With strong roots in dance language, we explore encounters of movement, sound, visual art and scenography. In our collaborations with artists, we create work that moves through a variety of performance spaces - from traditional theatres to natural environments and from video installations to public spaces. Playfully balancing between the surreal and reality, we challenge and expand the viewer's perception while offering them a poetic drink for the senses.
