Motus Sonus is an interdisciplinary experimental project, set up by dancer and choreographer Alesya Dobysh in collaboration with composer and sound artist Max Frimout. The project explores the relationship between movement, sound and space, with the form being adapted to the architectural and acoustic characteristics of each performance venue.
Through improvised interactions between dancers and musicians, Motus Sonus explores the sonic-somatic experience: how sound can be embodied, how movement can influence listening, and how performers can develop a shared system of mutual communication within the space. The work brings together choreographic, electro-acoustic and improvisational practices, using spatial sound, modular synthesis, physical movement and live composition as central elements.

Exercise: Alesya Dobysh, Xenia Sairento, Simon Bus

Sound: Max Frimout

Alesya Dobysh is a dancer and choreographer from the street and club scene, with a background in house dance. Her work explores rhythm, footwork, musicality and the transformation of subcultural movement practices into choreographic and performative forms.
Max Frimout is a musician and composer based in the Netherlands with a background in engineering physics. His work combines analogue modular synthesis, field recordings, algorithmic composition and digital processing, often in dialogue with dance, performance and the visual arts.

Simon Bus is a dancer and choreographer whose work is sharp, bold and humorous. He turns dance forms inside out and turns them on their head, drawing inspiration from breakdance, Butoh and the visual arts.

Xenia Sairento is a Paris-based experimental dancer who works in both urban dance styles and somatic research. She is known for her distinctive approach within the electro-dance scene and uses movement to explore physical sensitivity, transformation and new expressions of femininity.
