Jana Jacuka

During a residency at DansBrabant in October and December 2025, Jana Jacuka worked on AAA, a work-in-progress in which she explores voice as choreography. In collaboration with Eva Susova, the work engages with the vocal practice of yodelling, balancing between control, surrender, precision and release. AAA invites you to experience the present moment and offers an experience that is both physically palpable and audible.

Her practice lies between extreme vocal techniques and choreography: she growls, shouts and speaks while inhaling, making the voice an (in)visible extension of the body - like an extra limb with which she creates choreography in space. Building on her master's research at DAS Theatre on laughter and the letters H and A, the new solo work invites the entire alphabet onto the stage and explores the vocal, physical and political nuances of each letter.

During the residency at DansBrabant, the initial research phase was explored with outside observer Sam Scheuermann.
