OFFSPRING is SPRING Performing Arts Festival's platform where four creators boldly present their ‘work in progress’, all equally curious about audience reaction and reflection.

This year, Jana Jacuka, Shaquille George, Tim van Loon and Emma van den Elshout present their work.

Jana Jacuka - AAA (Work in Progress)

AAA is a work in progress by Jana Jacuka. In this solo work, Jana explores the voice as choreography, addressing the vocal practice of yodelling. Oscillating between control, surrender, precision and release, it invites AAA out into an experience that is physically felt and heard.
Building on her master's research at DAS Theatre and her previous work HA, in which she explored the performativity of laughter and the letters H and A, the new work invites the other letters of the alphabet onto the stage, to explore their vocal, physical and political nuances.

The work was created in collaboration with artistic mentor eva susova. The initial research phase (residency at DansBrabant) was explored with external advisor Sam Scheuermann. Voice consultancy: Sabine Pendry. Styling and photography: Peteris Viksna.
