Lesson: Floorwork by Noëmi Wagner
My class focuses on exploring how the spine guides the body in movement. First, we take the impulses we receive from the floor by pushing and pulling with hands and feet. Then we let these impulses flow throughout the body to create dynamic and fluid movements in the hips and spine. Let your natural instinct guide you! I share my personal dance language, which is physical, athletic and animalistic. The emphasis is on fluid transitions between movements and moving effortlessly in and out of the floor. Like waiting for the perfect moment to catch a wave, I work with momentum and rebound, playfully exploring timing and flow.
About Noëmi Wagner
Noëmi Wagner, born in Basel (CH), is a freelance dancer, dance teacher and coach. Her movement language is athletic, instinctive and driven by an inner emotional journey. Noëmi graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam in Modern Dance Theatre (BA). She has performed for Dance Works Rotterdam/André Gingras, Nanine Linning, SETanztheater, Sasker Polman, Cie. Woest, De Dansers, Arno Schuitemaker and is currently working with Jelena Kostic. In her dance career, she toured Europe, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, the US and Canada. Besides performing, she developed her teaching and works at several dance academies in the Netherlands, including Fontys, Codarts and Artez, as well as internationally (Austria, Switzerland).
“I encourage students to perform the same movement while discovering their own unique approach to it. Since we all have different bodies, it's not about copying my movements exactly, but finding your own way of performing them.”
