Lesson: Floorwork by Lino Eckenstein

This lesson focuses on the interplay between body and surface. The surface can be the floor, but also another body or your own. We try to maximise the use of surface, pressure and friction. These tools and ideas are approached through technical and exploratory floorwork and improvisation.

About Lino Eckenstein
Lino Eckenstein was born in 2002 in Vienna, Austria. From 2021 to 2025, he studied at the Fontys Academy of Arts in Tilburg, where he worked on projects with Eastman Dance Company (Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui), Cecilia Moisio, Panama Pictures (Pia Meuthen), Maria Sartzetaki and many others. He received scholarships for the IMPULSTANZ Vienna International Dance Festival and Deltebre Dansa several years in a row. In 2023, Lino began working at ALLEYNE Dance as an intern and rehearsal assistant on various projects.
Before moving to the Netherlands, Lino worked with several choreographers in Austria, including Silke Grabinger, Corinne Eckenstein, Chris Harring, Sanja Tropp Frühwald, Eric Minh Cuong Castaing and Shahar Binyamini. They joined TANZ_Kassel's ensemble for the 2024/25 season, where he worked with Andonis Foniadakis, Antonio Ruz, Andrea Peña, Noa Zuk and Ohad Fishof.
Besides his career as a dancer, Lino also creates work for the stage and film under his company CRUELBEHAVIOR Projects, which delves into ideas of friction, gender, instinct, empowerment, desire, legacy and death, approaching dance from a raw, unashamed, vulnerable and pure point of view that can be uncomfortable or provocative.
