About Celine Werkhoven
Celine Werkhoven (Leiden, 1990) is a dancer and maker with a love of movement, sound and visual art. She graduated from Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten as a dancer (BA Modern Dance Theatre, 2012) and has since performed with a wide range of companies and choreographers, including Voetvolk/Lisbeth Gruwez (BE), Katja Heitmann (NL), De Nationale Opera and Oper Köln (DE). In recent years, she has increasingly focused on her own artistic language, both independently and within SKYPUNCH COLLECTIVE, of which she is a co-founder. This results in performances that are not limited to one form or discipline and always appeal to more than one sense. Through poetic images and sounds, she shows her vision of what it means to be human, often with a touch of wonder, humour and sensitivity. In addition to her work as a performer and choreographer, Celine is a singer and an experienced teacher of contemporary dance, improvisation, creation and multidisciplinary work.
Lesson: Contemporary floor work: Shifting Shape
Inspired by the multitude of physical and emotional states we go through every day in our human experience, this class leads you through a physical journey full of
contrasting qualities and dynamics. Celine takes you through her study of transformation in the body, giving form to what moves within. The class combines improvisational tasks with set material rooted in contemporary dance and floor work, allowing space to approach movement from both a sensory and a more technical perspective. Playfulness, imagination, opening the senses and rapid shifts in dynamics are key elements, as is the use of breathing, rhythm and sometimes voice. Expect lots of shifting shapes and a joyful physical rollercoaster.
Price: €15.30.
